The energy in board
Electricity (12V) is stored in 8 of 6 volt batteries (in series in pairs, the pairs in parallel), for a total of 350AH. An inverter can have 230 on board.
The batteries are recharged by different means:
1-charger quay at the port, connecting a cable to a 230V power - effective but not necessarily practical when not in port ...
2-solar panels: they are the ones who produce the bulk of electricity during the day. We have on board 4 panels 110W.
3-the wind: a good complement to solar panels at night, especially during the voyages.
4-a generator: it goes hand in hand with the water maker (very greedy electricity). It can also make machines, vacuum etc. ...
5-the two generators engines: when navigating to the motor, recharging ...
Water board
Water is stored in two tanks of 200 liters. When the sea is sufficiently clear, it can make drinking water well (but without minerals) with the water maker (60 liters / hour). Water is heated in a cumulus of 40 liters (via the engine if they work or 230V power) and the pump pressurizes the circuit, which allows for cold water or hot throughout the boat.
Navigation
The boat is equipped with a number of navigation equipment:
1-The fixed GPS - connected to a PC running the software MaxSea: we see the evolution of the boat directly on the PC card with the registration logbook and data (heading, wind (direction / force ) course by the wind, boat speed, depth, position). A handheld GPS can have the position in case of failure of the installation.
2-The instruments onboard: lock and speedometre (accounting for miles & speed), vane anemometer, heading to the wind, compass, barometer, water meter and gas oil, voltmeter.
3-The autopilot: interfaced with instruments onboard, it follows a heading or wind.
4-The radar to detect and be detected by vessels operating in the area (24 miles). Especially useful at night and in low visibility.
5-The VHF sets - to communicate around us. We have a handheld VHF for safety and used to call the boat from the beach ...
6-The BLU - to communicate with a far greater. It is used to capture the many weather.
7-The Iridium phone - satellite communication, e-mail and file weather everywhere!
