Everything started in December 2008 when Thomas told me about his idea to do a boat trip. Since then this dream has become a reality. After days, weeks and months of discussions and negotiations, we finally made the decision … Yes! We’re leaving in September 2009 for a year long trip, with the family, on a catamaran to do a tour of the Atlantic.

You tell me that a decision is taken quickly for a project of this magnitude. 
But back a few years back: 
Note that Thomas is a man of the sea should have been born under the sign of the fish. Anything that touches the water passion him since childhood. He started with fishing and sailing, windsurfing, diving, kite surfing, wakeboarding, etc.. You can easily imagine that this boat trip running through his head for several years. I still wonder if the virtual Vendee Globe Challenge he has assiduously followed this year, is not just for something!

The more difficult  was to convince me. Contrary to Thomas, I am rather a woman who prefers to remain grounded. Fortunately for him, I am curious and eager to discover new horizons. Nevertheless, still a few weeks before the big start, I doubt ... "Why did I accept? "" Galley how did I put! ".... But Thomas is tenacious and perseverance he has managed to blur my fears. 

Why now? 
It is simply a series of circumstances: 

1. After 9 years in Southeast Asia in Singapore, we were about to return to France. Having no more job and given the circumstances of the moment, Thomas was quickly into his head a new project. He never imagine returned to France and looking for a job for months, or settle into a cushy little life metro-boulot-dodo. 
2. Financially, the "package" of departure and our economies should allow us to "survive" a year without too much difficulty. 
3. It was a smooth transition prior to reconnect with a new life in France ... not easy to land on the mainland after Singap! 
4. It is also the ideal time for children. They are young but not too small. 
5. After 10 years very intensive professionally, it's nice to stop, take your time, enjoy life and children. Regain control of his freedom, trying to live simply ... a whole program. 

Here was an opportunity not to let slip, all indicators were green! 

But is it possible to leave so soon? 
Thomas has prepared this project days and nights for months . Since we have read countless stories, blogs, websites, books. The administrative part is prepared according to the schedule. The rest is the adventure and it's probably better that way ...
